They’re not what you think.
These are lines of tension that indicate the direction of the underlying tissue. Surgeons know that if they want an incision to heal well, they need to cut in the same direction of the lines: it is the way the tissue repairs.
How does this relate to Gyrotonic movement?
In Gyrotonic, we move the muscles in the same direction as these lines indicate; essentially, we move in the natural pattern of the body. By adding strength and length to the body tissues in harmony with the way they already exist, we not only create a positive feedback system, but allow the bones to find their best alignment!
